INTRODUCING: Emilie Heurtevent

Emilie Heurtevent is a Melbourne-based abstract artist who works with black and white paints, ochre, Chinese ink and gloss.

Emilie consciously creates layers upon layers of marks, drips and abrasions to show the imperfection of nature and how deconstruction and reconstruction are intrinsically linked.

The purpose of my work is to invite people to look at the world around them and discover the beauty in unusual places.
— Emilie Heurtevent

Landscapes, classical elements and cycles of decay & renewal are Emilie’s recurring subjects. Like in nature, she believes changes are necessary, serving as an invitation to savour this precious life and a way to experience a sense of growth and purpose. Her work shows landscapes, movement, light and darkness. It is evocative of another place and time and questions what lies beyond our sight.
